Potential Pokemon GO Ice and Fire Event Leaked

    ice and fire pokemon

The rumor mill regarding the next Pokemon GO event is saying that there could be a Pokemon GO Ice and Fire event as early as next week!

The event is part of a summer (Northern hemisphere) and winter (Southern hemisphere) celebration that will take place between June 13 1:00 P.M. PDT and June 20 1:00 P.M. PDT, 2017.

Expect more Fire and Ice Pokemon spawns, extra XP from egg hatching and a discount on lucky eggs in the shop!

Is this (song) of Ice and Fire Pokemon GO event in any way connected to Game of Thrones’ 7th season? Probably not, but it’s hard to ignore the reference 🙂

See full (alleged) leaked announcement below –

    Trainers,

With summer quickly approaching in the Northern Hemisphere and winter approaching in the Southern Hemisphere, we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the upcoming solstices than with a Fire-type and Ice-type Pokémon GO event.

From 1:00 P.M. PDT on June 13 to 1:00 P.M. PDT on June 20, 2017, Trainers around the world will discover more Charmander, Cyndaquil, Growlithe, Houndour, Ponyta, Swinub, Vulpix, and their Evolutions. You’ll also want to keep an eye out for Sneasel, Magmar, Cloyster, and other Fire types and Ice types!

It’s time to perfect your Poké Ball throws, Trainers! Throughout the event, you’ll receive huge XP bonuses for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws, as well as Curveballs and First Throws. Additionally, as you walk around your neighborhoods or discover new sights, you’ll earn even more XP for hatching Eggs. To help you take advantage of these awesome XP bonuses, Lucky Eggs will be 50% off in the in-game shop.

Get ready to explore the world around you—there are even more exciting updates coming your way soon!

Rock Type Event Incoming Plus More Candy!

To celebrate Adventure Week, an official Rock Type Event has been announced by Niantic. Expect to see Omanyte, Kabuto, Rhyhorn, Geodude and even the elusive Aerodactyl during the week long event.

See the full announcement below –

    “Trainers,

Back in December, we collectively walked past the equivalent distance of Earth to Pluto and now, we’re on a journey past the edge of the solar system! As of May 11, the Pokémon GO community has traveled more than 15.8 billion kilometers, and more adventures still await…

Pokémon GO was developed for people to easily experience classic Pokémon gameplay on their mobile device and catch Pokémon in the real world. As a result, every day, people around the globe go outside, explore the world around them, make some new memories, and get some exercise along the way. We’d love to honor the memories created so far, and our collective journey yet to come, with the Pokémon GO Adventure Week celebration from 1:00 P.M. PDT on May 18 to 1:00 P.M. PDT on May 25, 2017.

To help you stock up for your upcoming adventure, more items will be awarded from every PokéStop you visit, and Poké Balls will be 50% off in the in-game shop. Your Buddy Pokémon is also in the adventuring spirit and will find Candies four times as fast for the duration of the celebration. Whether you’re exploring your neighborhood or an exotic new location, make sure to watch for Rock-type Pokémon such as Omanyte, Kabuto, and their Evolutions. Keep an eye out—maybe you’ll even spot Aerodactyl!

Last but not least, you’ll notice an all-new avatar item has been added to your wardrobe—the Explorer’s Hat! Once Adventure Week begins, grab your new hat and head out on your journey.

We’re excited to see where Pokémon GO takes you this week. Document your journey with the Pokémon GO AR camera, post your photos on social media using #PokemonGO! As you embark on your adventures, remember to always be alert and aware of your surroundings when playing Pokémon GO and be respectful of the communities and locations in which you play.”

Needless to say, all of you hoping to max out your Rhydons should prepare themselves for a long week of walking. Additionally, don’t forget to set your buddy as the Pokemon you need most for candy!

Pokemon GO Android 0.59.1 & iOS 1.29.1 Now Live!

    pokemon go update

Hello fellow trainers. Niantic just announced the the latest version update to the Pokemon GO app. Version 0.59.1 for Android & 1.29.1 for iOS is now live on the respective stores.

    Official announcment –

    Trainers,

Pokémon GO is in the process of being updated to version 0.59.1 for Android and 1.29.1 for iOS devices. Below are some release notes and comments from our development team.

    • The 7-day ‘First PokéStop of the Day’ streak will now award a random Evolution item.
    • Minor text fixes.

Having a revolution item awarded to players who regularly play the game is a very nice touch indeed. I, for one, spun endless PokeStops during the last month since the launch of Gen 2, and have yet to uncover ONE evolution item. That’s just nuts! I guess I won’t have to worry about that too much now, as I can expect to get at least one of those every week 🙂

Share your thoughts about the latest update in the comments!

Gym Rework Will Be The Next Major Update In 2017

    gym rework

During MWC Barcelona, Niantic CEO John Hanke took to the stage and spoke about all things AR (Augmented Reality), Ingress (Niantic’s other AR game), the company’s future, and of course, Pokemon GO. In another interview, John Hanke also confirms that Gym Rework is the next big update.

While Hanke’s speech was interesting from start to finish, it was the final few minutes that really had players buzzing for the future of Pokemon GO. Around 20 minutes into his speech, Hanke revealed that Niantic have three major new releases for Pokemon GO mapped out for 2017

And finally with Pokemon GO, we’re only getting started with the game. We just launched our first major update of 2017; we introduced 80 new Pokemon into the game and we have three major new releases for Pokemon GO mapped out for this year,” Hanke announced.

Hanke continued; “So Pokemon GO we expect to continue to be a healthy and growing project for many years, but we’re also working on a number of new AR gaming projects…We’ll be launching a new version of our original game Ingress later this year, and we have some other projects that unfortunately I can’t talk about today.

Furthermore, Hanke also sat down with the German branch of digital news outlet Wired to discuss the next major update to Pokemon GO. This means we can expect one of the three major updates to be…  Gym Rework (next page)!

Evolving Multiple Umbreon and Espeon Using Day and Night

    evolving multiple umbreon

There is a way to evolving multiple Umbreon or Espeon with your Eevee of choice.

We’ve already covered how you can evolve Eevee into any chosen evolution at will using the name trick. The problem with that method is that it only guarantees the chosen evolution once.

How To Evolve Eevee Into Umbreon Or Espeon Using Day And Night

The following method ensures you get your desired Umbreon or Espeon, but requires a little more patience than the name trick 🙂

    • The Eevee of choice needs to be walked 10km and get 2 candy as your buddy
    • The same Eevee MUST be set as your current buddy during the evolution process
    • Evolving chosen Eevee during night time will result in it becoming Umbreon
    • Evolving chosen Eevee during day time will result in it becoming Espeon

Cases of Eevee evolving into Espeon or Umbreon randomly, ie. not using the name trick or the day\night method have not been observed, but we won’t dismiss the possibility of that happening just yet.

Which is your favorite Eevee evolution?

Festive Pikachu Appearing Today For Pokemon Day Celebration

    festive pikachu

In preparation for Pokemon’s Pokemon Day celebration, a special Pokemon Holiday celebrated on February 27, Pokemon GO will have a festive Pikachu with a celebratory hat, much like the one found during 2016’s Christmas event.

See official announcement by Niantic below –

    “Trainers,

Did you know February 27 is Pokémon Day? We’ve teamed up with our friends at The Pokémon Company International for their annual celebration of all things Pokémon, and we have a special treat for you this Pokémon Day! From February 26 at 1:00 P.M. PST to March 6 at 1:00 P.M. PST, special Pikachu appearing all over the world will be celebrating Pokémon Day by wearing festive party hats. These special Pikachu will keep their party hats forever, but they can only be found during this limited-time celebration, so make sure to keep an eye out for them as you explore!

We want to see how you’re celebrating this Pokémon Day. Use the Pokémon GO AR Camera to take pictures of the special Pikachu you encounter and share them using #PokemonDay.”

Know Your Tyrogue Evolution In Advance

    tyrogue evolution

While everyone is going crazy about Eevee and the ability to manipulate its evolution, There’s another Pokemon with multi stage 2 evolutions that isn’t getting as much attention. We’re talking about the Tyrogue evolution.

While you can’t control Tyrogue’s evolution, as you would with Eevee, you can know in advance what to expect before you evolve, at up to 100% accuracy.

Pokemon Gold & Silver vs Pokemon GO

In the older game, a Tyrogue would evolve into Hitmonchan if it’s defence was higher than it’s attack, Hitmonlee if its attack was higher, and Hitmontop if both stats were equal.

ALSO READ: KNOW YOUR CROSS GEN EVOLUTIONS

However, in Pokemon GO it is slightly different. It seems that if your highest stat is Defense you will get a Hitmonchan, for Attack a Hitmonlee and last but not least a Gen2 Hitmontop if its highest stat is HP.

    tyrogue evolution
    Hitmontop

How Do I Know Which Stat Is Highest?

Easy, use the appraisal system and your team leader will gladly tell you which stat is the greatest for your chosen Pokemon. You may wonder what happens if two of the stats have equal attribute. Say, for example, your Tyrogue has 14 Attack and 14 Defense as its highest stats. This means there will be a 50% chance of evolving into either one of Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan. All three stats the same? That’s a 33% chance to get either of the three Tyrogue evolution Pokemon.

Eevee Evolution Manipulation – Now With Espeon And Umbreon!

    evee evolution

John Hanke, CEO of Niantic Labs, developer of Pokemon GO, confirmed what many players already knew regarding Eevee Evolution.

Speaking at SDCC, Hanke confirmed that naming Eevees a certain name, directly affects the type of evolution the Pokemon goes through.

What you need to know about Eevee Evolution names in Pokémon Go

Why Sakura, Tamao, Sparky, Rainer and Pyro? The original three are the names of the Eevee brothers from the Pokémon television show, who meet with Ash and the gang in episode 40 to show off their respective Eevee evolutions, with Sakura and Tamao appearing later on in the series.

[Update] Best Pokemon GO Candy To Farm For Gen 2

    pokemon go candy

Pokemon GO Gen 2 may only be available in 2017, but that certainly does not mean you shouldn’t start farming candy for Gen 2 evolutions, especially with events like Double Candy Halloween supporting the process. For that purpose, we came up with a list of the best Pokemon GO candy you should be hoarding, so you’d be able to evolve and power up as soon as Gen 2 is out.

    [Update] Feb 17, 2017

Now that Gen2 is live we have the actual candy and item requirements for cross gen evolutions! Read below to find what is required to evolve your Gen1 Pokemon.

    Onix >> Steelix

Onix is pretty disappointing in Pokemon GO. The Pokemon’s mediocre stats and low max CP don’t justify the amount of candy it requires to power up, or the rarity of its sightings. However, it’s evolved form, Steelix, may have hope still.

RELATED: THE BEST GEN 2 POKEMON TO LOOK FORWARD TO

The Gen 2 Pokemon should have much better defensive stats, and decent, if not great, attack. It also adds Steel to it’s attributes to go along with the original Ground attribute.

    pokemon go candy

Onix costs 50 candy to evolve, just like other Pokemon who currently only have one evolution. However, you will also need a Metal Coat (special item).

    Zubat >> Golbat >> Crobat

Don’t give up on your Zubat just yet! When Pokemon GO just launched, the amount of Zubats around my house was crazy, as can be seen in this video –

Less than two months have past, and the number of Zubats dropped massively, giving us hope that maybe there is something big in store for Gen 2’s Flying/Poison type Pokemon, Crobat.

    pokemon go candy

Seeing that it takes 50 candy to evolve a Zubat to a Golbat, it’s a 100 Zubat candy evolution from Golbat to Crobat.

Pokemon GO Storage Upgrade On Sale!

    pokemon go storage

In preparation for the massive update coming later this week, which introduces over 80 new Pokemon, as well as new items and other features, a Pokemon GO storage upgrade sale is set to start later today, Feb 16, and end on Feb 28.

The official Pokemon GO app page on twitter posted the news earlier today –

That’s 100 coins instead of 200 for those who do the math. We kind of expected to get some additional storage space for free along with the update, but it seems like that won’t be the case, for now at least.
