catch bonus

This page is intended for quick reference when calculating the different types of Catch Bonuses. It is based on research done by Gamepress and The Silph Road community.

Catch Calculation

BCR = Basic Capture Ratecatch bonus

CPM = CP Multiplier

Multipliers = Ball Type x Curveball x Razzberry x Medal x Throw Type

Ball Type & Curveball Bonuses

Curveballs greatly increase your chances of catching Pokemon. Pair them with a higher level ball and you won’t see many Pokemon escape.

If you really want your catch multiplier to go up, make sure you aim for dead center. A Great, or better yet, Excellent throw will greatly increase capture rate.

Razzberry Bonus

If throwing a ball accurately is not your strongest suit, you can always opt for some Razzberry, which is pretty effective in catching Pokemon. Of course, if you are a master thrower, even better.

This feature was added a few months into the game, and is a welcome addition, potentially raising catch rate even higher, depending on the number and type of Pokemon a trainer has caught.
