Pokemon GO Nearby Feature Rolls Out In New Territories

    pokemon go nearby feature

Niantic have announced that the Pokemon GO Nearby Feature is being expanded to more territories.

    Here’s the official word –

    “Trainers,

After reviewing your feedback, we have made some changes to the Nearby feature we were originally testing in San Francisco, California. We have changed the feature to only show the Nearby feature if a PokéStop is close to your location. In addition, we have also made changes to the way Sightings now works.

We will be expanding the ability for Trainers to test this updated version of the features and provide us with feedback. Starting today, Trainers in the following areas will now be able to use the new Nearby and Sightings functionality:

    • United States of America: All states west of the Mississippi River (except Hawaii and Alaska)
    • Canada: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and the western half of Ontario.
    • Australia: All states and territories

Your feedback submitted to all of our official social media accounts and posted in other channels is important to us. We will continue to review community feedback and make changes if necessary.

Our first six months has been nothing short of exciting and your continued support has been inspiring. We have a lot of content, features, and functionality that we will be implementing over the coming months and years. Our goal is to to always improve on existing features where we can while also releasing exciting new content and functionality.”

    WORLDWIDE RELEASE

There is still no word on a date to have it released anywhere else, but if the last few weeks are anything to go by, it probably won’t take long before everyone has the feature on their device.

Announcements and surprises in the last two weeks:

Our guess is the Nearby feature would be available to everyone before the end of the year, just in time for the much anticipated Christmas event.

Ditto Found In Pokemon GO. For Real

    ditto found

Ditto found! A host of trainers are reporting catching ditto in the wild!

The Pokemon GO subreddit is brimming with Dittos from multiple users. All (and there are many) with different stats, and in different locations (in every continent) which leads us to believe that this is actually happening. We already know Ditto is in the game code, and Niantic suggested that there are surprises in the game that were not officially announced.

Well, now it seems we found what one of those surprises were.

This comes on the back of yesterday’s announcements on CP Balancing and Double XP and Stardust for an entire week.

Looks like someone is stepping up their game. Ditto, here we come!

New Update To Pokemon GO CP Balance Should Add Variety To Gyms

    cp balance

Following the announcement that trainers will be getting double XP and stardust during Thanksgiving week, Niantic announced that several Pokemon got CP balance adjustments to make battling in Gyms more competitive.

    Here the official announcement:

    “Trainers,

We have made adjustments to the CP (Combat Power) of various Pokémon. Some Pokémon, such as Alakazam, Rhydon, and Gengar will have their CP increased. Others will have their CP lowered. These changes will allow a more balanced and competitive battling and training experience in Gyms. We will continue to adjust the CP going forward to improve the game balance when necessary.”

Pokemon GO Gen 2 Release Leaked By Starbucks Employee?

    gen 2 release

The Pokemon GO subreddit is rife with activity, as what seems to be like an official leaked internal e-mail by a Starbucks employee has given away the date for Gen 2 release.

The supposed email was sent as preparation for upcoming events and promotions by the coffee giant.

The email goes on to explain:

“Pokeman – 12/7 Launch of Pokeman Version 2… Starbuck stores will be a part of [missing] comes into the store: Pokeman Frappuccino (recipe to be communicated)

    • Lures will be dropped at all SBUX stores that will provide even more direct [missing] January / February”

On the typo of Pokeman instead of Pokemon, the employee said:

“I work at Starbucks and this is one of the most recent updates we received from corporate. Now, it’s hard to say whether or not this specifically refers to Generation 2 (although what else could it mean?), whether or not Starbucks and Niantic are partnered up, or if this will even be pushed out on the date specified (things don’t always go to plan). However, it all makes sense to me, but this would be a huge update. Based on the description of the event, it would require Niantic to put a Pokestop at every Starbucks. Lastly, I realize this may seem strange, especially with the “Pokeman”, but it’s a real email and I can send proof to the mods if required. Regardless, this isn’t anything concrete and pretty vague, and no other information was given to us. As a huge fan of Pokemon and Pokemon Go, I couldn’t NOT share the news with everyone. Fingers crossed that it’s gonna happen!”

    Gen 2 Leak
The leaked image that caused mayhem

There probably won’t be any official verification of this information from either Niantic or Starbucks, but if there is truth to it, and it is a big IF, we are only a few weeks away from Gen 2 being released!! Excited yet?

Pokemon GO Middle East And Update 0.47.1 Android & 1.17.0 iOS

    pokemon go middle east

Pokemon GO Middle East is live and latest Pokemon GO version  0.47.1 for Android and 1.17.0 for iOS is rolling out.

    Here’s the official announcement –

    “Trainers,

Pokémon GO is in the process of being updated to version 0.47.1 for Android and 1.17.0 for iOS devices. Below are some release notes and comments from our development team.

    • Fixed an issue where the Egg-hatching cutscene animation would sometimes be briefly visible from the map view.
    • Minor text fixes”

Not the most exciting of updates, to say the least. We don’t know how big the Egg-hatching animation issue was because we never heard of anyone having that issue, but other than that Niantic haven’t really added anything new in this version. At least not something they are officially announcing.

In other news Pokemon GO is now available in eight new countries across the Middle East. These are:

    • Bahrain
    • Israel
    • Jordan
    • Kuwait
    • Lebanon
    • Oman
    • Qatar
    • United Arab Emirates

No word on what regional Pokemon should be expected, but assuming they do get one, it will probably be Farfetch’d, according to the Regional Pokemon chart.

Pokemon Move Set Evolution Is Random

Ever since it’s release, Pokemon GO trainers were trying to figure out if you can control Pokemon move set while evolving your Pokemon.

For that reason, TheSilphRoad community has gathered data of over 10,000 evolutions over the course of four months, to try and figure out if there is a way to know what move-set a Pokemon gets post evolution.

    Factor Examination

    Factor
    Correlation
    Pre-evolution  Quick MoveNo
    Pre-evolution  Charge MoveNo
    Trainer’s Choice of TeamNo
    Pokemon’s Level (approximated using  Stardust  power-up cost)No
    Pokemon Nicknamed?No
    Lucky Egg active during evolutionNo
    Appraisal ratingNo
    Highest IV categoryNo
Pokemon has perfect IVs in Attack, Defense, or Stamina (Separately)No
    Pokemon has any perfect IVNo
    Pokemon has all perfect IVsNo

    Conclusion

As can be seen in the chart above, no correlation was found between all the factors examined and the resulting move-set post evolution.

The graph below, by TheSilphRoad, illustrates the distribution and frequency of post evolution move-sets and the results are clearly random.

So, there you have it. Next time you evolve your Pokemon don’t think about it too much. Just cross pokemon move setyour fingers and hope for the best Pokemon move set. Hopefully not get what I got for my Gyarados :/

Trainers Report Finding A Way To Get New PokeStops

    new pokestops

A Pokemon GO trainer from Wyoming, West Virginia reported getting three new PokeStops in his area. He did so by having Ingress portals added as PokeStops.

    How Exactly?

Niantic have been creating PokeStops from the locations of Ingress portals since the inception of Pokemon GO. However, they have been using the portals that had images, leaving the rest for later.

The trainer went through this process to have the new PokeStops approved and live:

    • Manually submit portal photos using Ingress, while also providing descriptions for them
    • Await Ingress approval of said photos
    • Wait for Ingress portals to show up as Pokemon GO PokesStops in the next few weeks

    How Do I Try?

    1. Download Ingress and sign up.
    2. After playing a bit, go on www.ingress.com/intel and sign in with your Ingress account. This will display a map of all Ingress portals.
    3. Click on portals.
    4. Submit images for portals that have no images

Other trainers on reddit have announced that they will follow the process and come back with their findings. We will do the same.

At the time of writing, Niantic have not confirmed that this method speeds up the erection of new PokeStops.

    Original Post

    reddit post:

“I live in Wyoming County in southern West Virginia with a population of approximately 23,000. When Pokemon Go launched, we only had 3 PokéStops and a single gym for the entire county. This, of course, created a lot of frustration for the county’s players. While looking at Niantics other game, Ingress, I noticed a pattern. The Ingress portals that had images were the only ones that where converted into PokeStops.

There were several original “seed portals”—mainly post offices, fire departments, and libraries—that did not have images. So as an experiment in August, I went around to several of these locations, took photos, and suited the photos through Ingress. A couple of weeks ago, three of the images where expected and a couple more where rejected. A week later, I was able to confirm that the three images that were expected where converted to PokeStops.

So, if you live in a rural area or small town or city, check around for Ingress portals without an image, then submit an image through Ingress. If the image is accepted, there is a very good chance that you will get a new portal soon after.”

    Lapras Event In Japan Commences

    lapras event

Japan’s Pokemon GO’s Twitter account has officially announced a Lapras event to commence November 11 to November 23rd.

    See official announcement below –

For the non-Japanese speaking readers out there, the announcement reads:

“Notice. Lapras has been found on the coast of Iwate, Miyagi, Fukushima, and easier is the emergence. This phenomenon seems to last until 11/23. You can visit on a trip to northeastern Japan. There should be a lot of Pokemon and other nice discoveries.”

This may not be 100% correct translation but we promise we tried to make it as close as possible 🙂

People in Japan are already posting their Lapras findings online –

Don’t get your hopes up for a the same Lapras event anywhere near you, but we should expect similar events in different parts of the world in the future. Most of us will have to wait a little longer for that Gold Ice Type Medal.

Gen 2 And Pokemon Transfer Revealed In Latest Pokemon GO Code

    gen 2

There’s been a lot of talk to date about Pokemon GO Gen 2. However, not much has been officially revealed by Niantic, and the various code dumps of previous versions didn’t shed much light either.

That is, until versions 0.45.0 & 1.15.0 for Android and iOS, respectively, were released a few days ago. Among the things found in the code that you can start looking forward to:

Generation 2 Pokemon Are In The Code

The metadata reveals that all Gen 2 Pokemon families are present. In previous instances, it didn’t take long for Niantic too release a playable version that contains the latest code (see Buddy Pokemon system). Are Niantic going to surprise us all and release the 2nd generation before the new year?

Just in case, we compiled a chart detailing the Max CP of every Gen 2 Pokemon!

    Official Nearby Feature Update

    nearby feature

It’s been a long time since we had any new word on the San Francisco exclusive nearby feature / tracker.

At long last Niantic have an update on the nearby feature, by don’t get too carried away. That is, unless you live in Arizona, the Seattle area of Washington state, and the rest of the San Francisco Bay area.

    Official Niantic announcement –

    “Trainers,

As you might be aware, we’re currently testing a variation of the Nearby Pokémon feature in San Francisco, California. Starting today, we will be expanding the ability for Trainers in parts of Arizona, the Seattle area of Washington state, and the rest of the San Francisco Bay area to test this version of the feature. We will continue to review community feedback, make changes if necessary, and roll this feature out to more regions.”

It seems as if the feature is nearing a worldwide release, and hopefully we all get a chance to get our hands on it sooner rather than later.

This announcement comes on the back of changes to egg hatching and a daily bonus feature to be implemented in the next update.

This page is intended for quick reference when calculating the different types of Catch Bonuses. It is based on research done by Gamepress and The Silph Road community.

    Catch Calculation

BCR = Basic Capture Ratecatch bonus

    CPM = CP Multiplier

Multipliers = Ball Type x Curveball x Razzberry x Medal x Throw Type

    Official Egg Update From Niantic

    egg update

Yesterday, we posted that some trainers were reporting hatching Eevees from 5km eggs. Today, Pokemon GO’s official Twitter page gave an official egg update, and it seems those reports were true.

In addition to Eevee now hatching from 5km eggs, common Pokemon like Rattata and Pidgey will no longer be hatching from 2 km eggs. Surely, veterans of Pokemon GO will rejoice, as they are all well stocked on Pidgey and Rattata candy mostly used for power leveling.

    Do Eevee 5km Eggs Exist?

    eevee 5km

According to various reports from players online, specifically TheSilphRoad community on reddit, Eevee may now be hatching from 5km eggs.

We weren’t able to recreate this scenario just yet, as all we’ve been getting from 5km and 10km eggs are Onix and Ekans, but it would make sense for the news to be legit. Eevee is not exactly the rarest of Pokemon in Pokemon GO, and putting it in the 5km egg group would make a lot of sense.

However, We must take this news with a grain of salt, as there is no confirmation that Eevee 5km eggs really exist.

Will this have any effect on Eevee’s buddy Pokemon candy distance (currently at 5km)? Only time will tell.

We’ll update on this as soon as there is solid proof that the change has been made by Niantic.

In the meantime, we’d love to hear if anyone has had this happen to them during or after the Halloween Event.

Pre Evolution Pokemon To Look Forward To In Gen 2

    pre evolution pokemon

Like every good thing, the Pokemon Go Halloween event comes to an end.

However, this doesn’t mean that there aren’t more things to get excited about!

Today, we will present the upcoming Gen 2 pre evolution Pokemon to look forward to. These Pokemon are not world beaters, but some of their evolutions are, and we can safely assume that these pre evolution Pokemon will spawn at a higher rate than their evolutions.

Note: We would not be surprised if the amount of candy needed to evolve certain Pokemon will change to accommodate the addition of new Pokemon to the Pokedex. With that in mind, let’s begin.

    The Mediocre Bunch

    Smoochum >> Jynx

Jynx isn’t the most popular Pokemon of Gen 1. It has decent stats as an attacker but not much added value over higher CP Pokemon. Alas, it’s not an easy Pokemon to get your hands on, as it rarely spawns in the wild, and hatching a Jynx is also a matter of luck. Having a pre evolution, weaker version will raise your chances of evolving a Jynx from a Smoochum.

    smoochum-jynx

    Expected Candy To Evolve:

    Smoochum > 50 Candy > Jynx

    Magby >> Magmar

Much like Jynx, Magmar isn’t particularly useful in the world of Pokemon GO, with much better fire Pokemon readily available to most trainers. However, part of the fun is catching’em all, and Magamar is similar to Jynx in the sense that it’s a pretty rare spawn. Magby should help you land one via an evolution soon enough.

    magby-magmar

    Expected Candy To Evolve:

    Magby > 50 Candy > Magmar

RELATED: BEST POKEMON GO CANDY TO FARM FOR GEN 2

    Elekid >> Electabuzz

We’d love to tell you how special Electabuzz is, but in reality, if you have a decent Jolteon or even Electrode, it will do whenever you are in need of an electric type Pokemon. Apply the same rule of thumb here regarding Electabuzz’s rare spawn rate, and Elekid should help with that issue.

For the three Pokemon above, having pre-evolution Pokemon would obviously be best to newcomers, looking to land the Gen 1 evolved Pokemon. Pokemon GO veterans should have plenty of those by Gen 2’s release.

    Expected Candy To Evolve:

    Elekid > 50 Candy > Electabuzz

    Odd One Out

    Tyrogue >> Hitmonchan / Hitmonlee / Hitmontop

Tyrogue’s case is a little different. There are currently two Pokemon in Gen 1 that are evolved forms of this pre evolution Pokemon, but Gen 2 also introduces another evolved Tyrogue in the form of Hitmontop.

    tyrogue-all

As you can imagine, Tyrogue and Hitmontop will also be Fighting type Pokemon, so hopefully gen 2 makes this type more relevant to core game-play than it is now.

    Expected Candy To Evolve:

    Tyrogue > 50 Candy > Hitmonchan / Hitmonlee / Hitmontop
