Pokemon GO Beta Reveals Upcoming Nearby Tracker Update

Earlier this week, we updated on the new Sightings system introduced in the latest update. Pokemon GO Beta testers are now helping reveal what the purpose of the Background graphics are.

It appears that Niantic Labs are finally gearing towards a solid tracking system to the augmented reality game. While you won’t be able to calculate distance by counting step, as it was when the game was launched, the new Pokemon GO beta update does make it a lot easier to find the nearest Pokemon.

Instead of blades of grass, the beta displays photos of corresponding PokeStops. This means that by going to the PokeStop listed for each Pokemon, you should be able to spot the matching Pokemon in the Sightings window.

If you are unfamiliar with the PokeStop just by looking at the photo, you can touch that pokemon, and the PokeStop will be highlighted on the map.

Since the update is still in beta, it is only available to a handful of trainers. As soon as it’s live on Google Play and the App Store we’ll let you know.
